CM Offers Late Burst to Best DuBois 4-1

cm-softballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The top two AAAA teams in the Central Pennsylvania League faced off today with Central Mountain pulling out a hard-fought victory over DuBois.

The Lady Wildcats had a few early mistakes that allowed the Lady Beavers to score first in the top of the second inning, but answered back in quick fashion when pitcher, Rachel Shady cleared the left-center fence for a solo home run in the fast of a brisk spring wind.

Over the next three innings, both defenses held strong denying any further scoring.

Then in the bottom of the sixth, Moriah Lindsey offered up a clutch one-out single. Sarah Reeder followed with a bunt that was misplayed by the DuBois pitcher. Then Jess Strouse moved the runners to second and third with a fielder’s choice and two outs.

Lauren Russell dove a single to plate the go ahead run, then Jordan Kaler slammed a doulbe that nearly cleared the outfield fence scoring two more runs giving CM a 4-1 lead.
Shady continued her strong effort on the mound in the final stanza ending the game with a strikeout.

On the day, The Lady Wildcats had six hits while giving up three and each team was credited with an error.
