State Police Charge Castanea Man in Child Pornography Case

CASTANEA — Law enforcement authorities have arrested a Lock Haven area man and charged him with multiple counts related to the state’s Sexual Abuse of Children Law.

Michael S. Grenninger, 35, of 502 West Grape Street, Castanea, was arrested following a raid on his home on Tuesday. A preliminary arraignment was held Wednesday and the accused remanded to the Clinton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was tentatively set for Tuesday, Aug. 1 in District Court.

The state police report said a state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Northeast Computer Crime Unit with assistance from Lamar state police yesterday executed a search warrant at the Grape Street home. Police said the probe stemmed from an investigation in which a task force member with the identity of an 11-year-old female was allegedly contacted by Grenninger online and “offered money in return for sexual acts.”

Police said numerous electronic devices were located and, after examination, several were found to have evidence of child pornography.

As a result, the police report said, Grenninger was charged with numerous counts of the sexual abuse of children law in relation to manufacturing, disseminating and possessing child pornography along with one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Also involved in the investigation, police said, were Christiansburg, VA, police, Williamsport police and the state police Troop F polygraph unit.
