Keystone Junior All-Stars Advance to D12 Final with 12-7 Win over Montoursville
MONTOURSVILLE – The Keystone Junior All-Stars earned a berth in the District 12 finals with a 12-7 win over Montoursville.
Montoursville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with Keystone responding with a run of their own in the second inning to close the gap to 3-1.
In the third inning, Keystone got their offense in gear, plating four more runs to hold a 5-2 advantage. Then in the fifth inning both teams played even scoring 3 runs each giving Keystone an 8-6 lead. In the sixth inning, Keystone score 3 more runs and held Montoursville scoreless to edge forward 11-6. Both teams would add an additional run in the seventh inning to make the final 12-7.
Keystone recorded 10 hits on the day with Peyton Johnson and Landyn Carson both stroking out a single and a double each while Erick Hoy has a pair of singles. Nick Long had a double with Brady Williams, Greg Walizer and Devin Parker all contributing base hits to the cause.
On the mound, Carson and Johnson split the duty combining for 6 strikeouts while giving up 6 hits and 3 walks.
The District 12 finals are slated for Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Montoursville at 6 p.m.
