UPMC Affiliate Buys Bald Eagle Outlet Site in Wayne Township

McELHATTAN — It is official, a subsidiary of UPMC has purchased the former Bald Eagle Outlet site in Wayne Township. The purchase lends credence to reports that the Pittsburgh-based health care giant plans to construct a new medical facility at the nearly 21 acre site just off Route 220.

The deed was recorded last Friday, the purchase price $5 million. According to information at the Clinton County Court House, the purchaser is listed as “The Williamsport Hospital,” now UPMC Susquehanna since UPMC announced its acquisition of Susquehanna Health last fall. The seller is listed as “Bald Eagle Enterprises, in care of Trisha Gibbons-Marty” of Williamsport.

The site had been an outlet mall for 24 years, opening in June of 1993. In recent years it has housed only a handful of commercial and service agencies. Some formal announcement on UPMC plans for the site is expected soon.
