Clinton County Court House Tower Repairs Begin Next Week

LOCK HAVEN — Clinton County’s Court House towers will get a fix-up beginning next week. The county commissioners announced Monday the work will start Wednesday, July 5 and run for an estimated four weeks. Work will include painting, repair and re-lighting the two towers.

The commissioners’ office said WB4 Construction won the bid to complete the project at a cost of $55,280. The contractor, county maintenance department and the county safety committee are working with court personnel to insure minimal disruption to the conduct of courthouse business.

A county release said work will begin on the smaller tower, which may impact traffic flow on the alley beside the courthouse. Work on the larger tower may affect the sidewalk on the Jay Street side, but it is presumed that access to the front of the building and use of the ADA ramp will not be shut down during business hours. Work that could impact those entrances will likely be completed on Wednesday afternoons when the building is not in use. The clocks will not be working during the project as they too will be repainted. Signage will be in place at all times directing the public to the appropriate route to enter the building. The safety of the public and county employees will be the primary concern at all times.

A county spokesperson said, “When completed, this iconic and well-known symbol of our county and our community should be better-lighted and newly repaired and repainted.” The court house and its towers date to 1867.
