City Police Warn Swimmers Beach is Closed until Next Monday

LOCK HAVEN — After social media postings about two “near drownings” earlier this week at Lock Haven’s city beach, city police Wednesday issued a reminder that the beach is off limits until its seasonal opening next Monday, June 19.

The police Facebook posting:

We’ve heard reports of “near drownings” that have occurred at or near the Lock Haven City Beach over the last few days. We want to remind people that swimming in that area is PROHIBITED without lifeguards on duty. The City Beach will officially open on Monday, June 19, 2017 at noon. Please, for your safety and safety of others, refrain from swimming in that area. There are strong currents that you cannot see and it is obviously an issue. Do not take the chance with your life or the life of your loved ones!

An early afternoon check of the site on Wednesday saw several people swimming.
