Bucktail High School Holds 49th Commencement

FARWELL — The Bucktail High School Class of 2017, 29 members in all, received their diplomas at Dwyer Memorial Field on a crisp, pleasant Thursday evening.

The 90 minute ceremony was marked by both looking back and looking ahead, as class salutatorian Emalea Mills said, “It is time to say goodbye, and hello to a new adventure.” Mills and class valedictorian Hannah Bowes offered thanks to those who assisted this year’s graduating class through their school journey.

Bucktail Principal Betsy Dickey told the seniors to make good choices and told them, “good things are about to happen.” She noted the class members were presented some $83,000 in scholarships and awards.

Class song was Trace Adkins’ “You’re Gonna Miss This.”
