Lock Haven University to Hold Commencement Ceremonies Friday, Saturday

lhu-logoLOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven University will hold its 140th Commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 12th and Saturday, May 13th. Major Chris Raup ‘90 will serve as the speaker for the Graduate Commencement. Joseph Torsella, Pennsylvania State Treasurer, will serve as the Undergraduate Commencement speaker.

WHEN: Friday, May 12th, 7:00 p.m., Graduate Commencement; Saturday, May 13th, 10:00 a.m. Undergraduate Commencement

WHERE: Price Performance Center—Graduate Commencement; Hubert Jack Stadium—Undergraduate Commencement.

Elected Pennsylvania’s 77th State Treasurer in 2016, Ambassador (Ret.) Joseph M. Torsella brings a record of leadership and service to the PA Treasury Department. From serving as an U.S. Representative to the United Nations to leading the development of the sparkling new National Constitution Center, Joe Torsella has always valued the need for innovation and new ideas in public service. Raised in Berwick, PA, Torsella graduated from Wyoming Seminary high school. After graduating with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics and History, Joe studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He lives with his wife, Carolyn P. Short, in Flourtown, Pennsylvania; they have four children.

Major Chris Raup ‘90 earned a degree in Management Science from Lock Haven University. During his time at the University, Raup was involved in numerous campus organizations including ROTC. After graduation Raup went on to serve in the U.S. Army and later worked in corporate America. For the past 16 years Raup has owned and operated Paladin Financial Services, Inc. He credits LHU with imparting the values of leadership, service, and paying it forward. In addition to serving as the LHU Alumni Board president, he enjoys volunteering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Raup and his wife Jennifer reside in Carlisle.
