Local Athletes, Broadcaster Honored by NFFCPC

UNIVERSITY PARK — Two Clinton County scholar athletes were among those recognized Sunday at the annual National Football Foundation Central Pennsylvania Chapter banquet. Recognized for their academic excellence were Aaron Kelley of Bucktail High School and Tyler Pavalko of Central Mountain High School. In addition to their academic awards each also earned a scholarship. Kelley received the M&T Bank Scholarship and Pavalko the Bob Mitinger Scholarship. Kelley plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania and Pavalko Shippensburg University.  Record photo – Roger Elling

UNIVERSITY PARK — John Lipez of radio station WBPZ in Lock Haven, was presented with the Fran Fisher Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism. Lipez is a Penn State graduate who followed his father, Harris, into broadcasting and for 25 years they worked together announcing Lock Haven High School football games. Lipez also has been at the mic for various scholastic and college games of in such sports as wrestling, basketball and softball.
