Wildcats Dominate Huskies 9-1

cm-baseballLEWISTOWN – Central Mountain bounced back from a loss in their previous game this week with a convincing 9-1 win over District 6 rival, Mifflin County.

Brandon Miller got the scoreboard warmed up when he pounded out a 2 RBI single in the second inning to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. CM would add another run in third inning when Asher Corl scored on a passed ball, then the Wildcats added another run in the fourth inning Miller successfully stole third base then scored on a single by Corl to give Central Mountain a 4-0 lead heading into the fifth inning.

The flood gates opened a bit in the fifth when the ‘Cats batted around the order before they were done. The scoring frenzy was fueled by a string of singles from Austyn Carson, Landon Breon, Troy Gardner and Trevor Hanna. Also in that inning, Mahlik Houtz and Evan Prough worked walks for the Wildcats and Carson and Houtz also had stolen bases to their credit. The effort put CM up 9-0.

Mifflin County managed to put up a run in the seventh inning to close out the scoring for the 9-1 final.

Defensively, Landon Breaon had his first action on the mound of the 2017 season. Breon stymied the Huskies giving up a lone hit, 1 walk, striking out 2 in a full five inning effort.

Breon was relieved by Aaron Swartz in the sixth inning who also only yielded one hit to Mifflin County. Ethan Watkins closed out the game in the seventh inning giving up one hit and a walk in the effort.

With the win Central Mountain moves to 6-5 overall, 4-2 in the Heartland Conference.

The Wildcats will host Shamokin on Monday, May 1, 2017 for another PHAC contest.
