Bulldogs Turn the Tables on the Wildcats, 8-3

cm-baseballJERSEY SHORE – The Jersey Shore Bulldogs waited patiently for three weeks to turn the tables on Central Mountain. Back on April 5, the Wildcats had their way with ‘Shore in a 8-3 win that saw the Bulldogs commit 8 errors in the process. Today, it was Jersey Shore that was getting the hits and making the plays to return the favor, dropping the Wildcats by exactly 8-3.

The damage came early when ‘Shore’s Mac Griswold and Lance Welsh pounded out back-to-back singles followed by a crushing homer from Brandon Depasqua to put the Bulldogs up 3-0 after one full inning.

Then in the bottom of the third inning, Welsh put the ball in play again reaching first on an error, then advancing to second on a second CM miscue and then advanced to third base on a balk. Welsh then scored of a solid line drive from Depasqua to put Jersey Shore up 4-0.

Later in the inning, Depasqua advanced to second on a sac fly from Koby Peacock, then scored on a double from Wyatt Lorson that gave ‘Shore a 5-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.

Central Mountain tried to get back on track in the top of the fourth inning when Austyn Carson led off with a base hit followed by a walk from Mahlik Houtz. Then Landon Breon drove a liner to left field to score Carson to narrow the margin to 5-1.

In bottom of the fourth inning Timmy Saar smacked a line drive single to center field and advanced to second base when Griswold received a walk. On the next pitch Wildcat catcher, Asher Corl made a solid throw to shortstop Austyn Carson who made the tag as Saar attempted to steal second base.

Then Welsh had another hit, this time, a solid double to center field to score Griswold. Depasqua copied Welsh with a double of his own to score Welsh. Then Depasqua scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Bulldogs an 8-1 lead after four innings.

In the top of the fifth inning Evan Prough led off for the ‘Cats with ground ball and reach first base on an error. Then Prough advanced to second on a Bulldog error, then promptly stole third base. Then Hanna scored Prough on a sac fly to right filed to narrow the gap to 8-2 in favor of Jersey Shore.

The Wildcats would score another run in the top of the seventh inning, once again the result of a nifty line drive single from Prough. Prough would then steal second and advance to third base on a wild pitch and then scored on a sac fly from Corl to end the possible rally and set up the 8-3 final score.

On the mound for the Wildcats it was Hanna getting the start and gave up 7 hits while striking out 3 in three innings of work.
