HARRISBURG — Former Lock Haven Mayor Rick Vilello has been officially sworn in as Deputy Secretary of Community Affairs and Development. Gov. Tom Wolf and Commonwealth Secretary Pedro Cortes administered the oath of office in the state Capitol on Tuesday.

Vilello had been acting secretary since early February; previously he had been director of the Governor’s Center for Local Government. He said his new position means expanded responsibilities into a number of community-related programs. Vilello had become familiar with many of those during his 15 years as Lock Haven Mayor.

Members of the Vilello family, including his wife Marie, presently the Clinton County Prothonotary, and a delegation from the City of Lock Haven were present for the Tuesday ceremony.

Vilello had been part of the Wolf administration transition team in late 2014 and resigned as Lock Haven mayor in 2015 to go to Harrisburg and join the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
