Beech Creek Woman Succumbs to Injuries from Route 150 Crash

psp-logoBEECH CREEK TOWNSHIP — A Beech Creek woman has died as the result of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle Friday night accident on Route 150 east of the borough.

State police at Lamar identified the victim as Sherry Wargo, 43. The crash occurred Friday at 10:30 p.m. The Wargo woman was taken by ambulance to the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville where police said she was pronounced dead at 1:29 a.m. Saturday.

Investigating officer Michael Flook said Wargo was south bound on Route 150 near Masden Hollow Road in Beech Creek Township, traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour. His report said her 2004 Nissan Xterra went off the west side of the roadway and struck a road sign; the operator then attempted to steer back onto the roadway and over-steered. The vehicle crossed both lanes of travel and went off the east side of the highway, striking an embankment and rolling over, striking a steel cable fence and then into another roll, the driver ejected. The police report said the operator was not wearing a seatbelt.
