Ross Library Events

LOCK HAVEN – Local paranormal investigator Lou Bernard will be giving two haunted walking tours at 2 PM and 7 PM on January 28. Each tour is $3 per person. The tours will take about an hour, and begin at the library. Each tour will show some of the haunted locations in the community, and also cover other paranormal events, such as fireballs from the sky, UFOs, and flying monsters. Each tour will have some stories that have never before been told to the public. All tours are researched and historically accurate.

As a fundraiser, the Ross Library will be selling autographed celebrity photographs throughout January and February. All photos will be priced at $5 apiece. Photos will be kept at the main desk. To purchase a photo, simply ask a staff member. Celebrities include Carol Burnett, Michael Jordan, Bob Barker, and many more. All proceeds will benefit the Ross Library. Photos will be sold while supplies last.

The library also still has copies of “Surgeons Blue Coal,” a book by local doctor Fred Winner. Copies are $1 each. Other historic and local books are available at the library, and patrons can ask for titles and prices at the front desk.

The Book Brigade, now in its third year, is in search of new members. On the final Saturday of each month, at ten AM, the group meets at the library to discuss a different book and the social issues covered in that book. The public is welcome to come and participate. The next meeting will be on January 28, 2017, and the book will be “The Journeyer” by Gary Jennings, which can be checked out at the library. The next get-together will be on February 25, and the book will be announced.

February is Library Lovers’ Month. For the entire month, the Ross Library will be holding “Blind Date With A Book.” A selection of books will be on display and available for checkout..The books will be wrapped in paper, so nobody will know what they’re getting until they check it out. Each book will have a brief description written on it, but the title and author will be a mystery.

Local outdoor instructor Art Dawes is teaching a new series of classes on outdoor survival skills. Dawes, the owner of PA Wilderness Skills Survival Training, will be teaching a class on the second Tuesday of every month at 5 PM. Dawes will teach rope-making on February 14, and shelter-building on March 14.

Tech instructor Mary Jo Langston will be holding classes and offering assistance with electronics throughout the month. For dates and times, or for specific assistance with an issue, please call the Ross Library.

Unless otherwise stated, all programs are free and open to the public. To register for a program or get more information, contact the Ross Library at 570-748-3321 or ross13@rosslibrary.org. The Annie Halenbake Ross Library is a member of PA Forward and the Clinton County United Way.
