Renovo Elks Lodge Announce the 45th Annual Elks Hoop Shoot Competition 

RENOVO – Renovo Elks Lodge #334, Hoop Shoot coordinator, Joe Riggle announced the date for this year’s Hoop Shoot competition will be Sunday, 29 January, 2017.  The annual competition will be held at the Western Clinton County Recreation Authority Gym (old YMCA gym) located at 228 St Clair Avenue.  Renovo boys and girls from the ages of eight to thirteen may sign up at 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m…  The competition will start at 1 p.m.

This year marks the 45th year for the Annual Elks Hoop Shoot.  The Hoop Shoot is the national free throw shooting contest for children ages 8 through 13.  Nearly three million students from across the country entered last year’s competition for boys and girls in age categories 8 – 9; 10 – 11; and 12 – 13. Each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop. The boy and girl in each age group with the best scores advance through four tiers of competition to qualify for the national finals.

Local winners will compete against other contestants in the North Central District on Saturday, 11 February, 2017 at Philipsburg-Osceola High School.  Registration for this event begins at 9 a.m. and opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m.  For more details or to learn about the Elks, visit www.elks.org/hoopshoot.
