Robert A. Floyd, Sr. – Obituary

ObitArtRobert A. Floyd, Sr., 89, of 107 Floyd Rd., Sinnemahoning, PA formerly of Glen Burnie, MD & Renovo, PA died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Saturday (February 22, 2014) night.

He was born August 9, 1924 in Renovo, PA a son of the late John and Sarah Barr Floyd.

He married the late Jean A. Weaver Floyd.

Mr. Floyd graduated from Renovo High School. He served with the US Navy during WW II onboard the Submarine USS Icefish 367 where he received a Navy Good Conduct Medal!, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 4 bronze star appurtenances), Combat Action Ribbon, Discharge Button, and Honorable Service Lapel Pin (Ruptured Duck), a submarine combat insignia (with gold star), Philippine Liberation Medal (w/1 bronze star appurtenances) and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Badge (Navy). He retired from the US postal Service where he had worked for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Renovo, the Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, VFW, Emporium, and the Submarine Vets. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and watching wildlife around his farm.

Surviving are one daughter Carol Floyd Pavlis, Glen Burnie, MD; a son Robert A. Floyd, Jr., Fayetteville, PA; four grandchildren are Michael (Elizabeth) Pavlis, Jon (Sarah) Pavlis, Ryan Floyd and Erin Floyd Weiss; four great grandchildren including William and Anson Pavlis; a nephew Malcome “Bud” Stone. Robert was preceded in death by his parents John and Sarah Barr Floyd; his wife Jean A. Weaver who died on Jan. 8, 2013; a son-in-law Jeff Pavlis.

Services are Private. No Visitation. A Military Service was be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial will be in the Floyd Family Cemetery, Sinnemahoning, PA.
