Lady Wildcats Fall to Bellefonte, 52-27
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain (0-12; 0-5) dropped a hard-fought contest to neighboring Bellefonte 51-27 in non-conference action tonight.
The game began with a fairly even tempo with the Lady ‘Cat actually leading much of the first quarter with Bellefonte rallying late in the period to hold a 10-7 lead heading into the second quarter.
In the second, the Lady Red Raiders picked up the pace outscoring the hosts 21-10 to hold a 31-17 lead at the break.
Bellefonte kept up the pressure in the third quarter outpacing Central Mountain 13-7 to secure a comfortable 44-24 advantage with 8 minutes remaining. In the fourth quarter, both squads struggled with their offense with Bellefonte adding to their effort outscoring CM 8-3 for the final 52-27 score.
Although the Lady ‘Cats were humbled with the final score, they made strides forward with their offensive effort improving their shot percentage significantly over recent efforts.
Leading that effort were: Autumn Young, 10 points, Morgan Wentzel, 5 points and Elaina Eckley with 4 points. Averie Pringle and Bethany Dolan each scored 3 points.
Next, the Lady Wildcats will travel to Hollidaysburg on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2016.
