Bucks Battle Injuries; Fall to Cowanesque Valley

bucks-footballFARWELL — Tonight was a tough makeup game for the Bucktail Bucks.

The Bucks battled all night long but Cowanesque Valley (3-6) went home a 34-0 winner. The Bucks suited up just 16 players at the beginning of the game. By the middle of the fourth quarter Bucktail had only one sub left on the side line.

The Bucks still held their own despite a couple of big plays that CV had to start the third quarter, the score 14-0 CV at halftime. CV’s first play from scrimmage was a 63 yard touchdown. Then on Bucktail’s next possession CV picked up a fumble and ran it back to the Bucks’ 11-yard line. CV scored on the very next play to make it 28-0.

CV would not score until the final 1:10 left in the game to make it 34-0. For Bucktail, it was more good moments than bad in most cases during the game. The Bucks were able to move the ball on most possessions, but would stall out in CV territory.

The team will have a few days to heal up to determine on how the Bucks (0-9) go into their final game on Friday night at Montgomery (1-8). The Red Raiders fell last Friday by a 21-13 score to Warrior Run 4-5. Montgomery’s lone win this season came over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech by a 54-30 score. CMVT earned a 34-6 win over Bucktail Sept. 16.
