Ernest G. Rupert – Obituary

Ernest G. Rupert
Ernest G. Rupert
BEECH CREEK – Ernest G. Rupert, 63, of Beech Creek, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at Lock Haven Hospital.

Born November 19, 1952 of Lock Haven, he was the son to the late Kenneth G. Rupert and the former Isabelle Eaton.

Ernest was a 1970 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College. He was a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group and a member of the Lock Haven Masons, Lafayette Lodge and the Altoona Shriners.    He was an avid car and gas collectible and well known for his 66 Chevy II.

Earlier in his life, Ernie was employed by Piper Aircraft and had retired from Penn State University after 31 years as a civilian worker for the Navy in ARL (Applied Research Lab). He was the past president of the teamsters local # 8 when employed at PSU, and was a former owner of Rupert’s Welding.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Melanie A. Stout, they were united in marriage on December 17, 1982; a sister, Karen J. (Harry) Overdorf, of Loganton; and his nephews, Andrew and Matthew Myers.

Ernie was a big, bold, larger than life man who adored his wife, Melanie and his pets, their fur children Cubbie  Jazzy Mr Kitty and Buzzy and was always ready to help a neighbor, a friend and even a stranger. His life was a perfect example of a Christian and although he wasn’t a churchgoer. He was a man of faith not a man of religion, his Faith was as large as he was. A good man was taken too soon and unexpectedly, and Melanie hopes that all who knew him and who are grieving with her will join her at the service and visitation.
