JUNIOR, WV  – Mr. Harry William Jackson Sr., age 85, a resident of Junior, departed this life early Monday morning September 19, 2016 in the Davis Medical Center following a period of declining health.

He was born on January 21, 1931 at Renovo, PA, a son of the late Frederick William and Mary Scheffler Jackson. On December 11, 1957 at Buffalo, NY he was united in marriage to the former Yvonne Marie Hunter, who survives at their home.

He is survived by two sons; Jeffrey E. Jackson of Junior, WV, Floyd T. Jackson of Norfolk, VA, one sister; Margaret Patoka of Erie, PA, four grandsons; Mathew, Jamey, Floyd Jr., and Brandon Jackson, one granddaughter; Jamie Jackson, four great-grandsons; Issac, Anthony, Gabriel, and Dominick Jackson, and also surviving are one great-granddaughter; Roslyn Jackson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son; Harry William Jackson Jr, one brother; Geroge Jackson, five sisters; Dorothy Sluspki, Cora Conser, Theresa Ervin, Stella Schicker, and Irene Herritt, two sister-in-law’s; Sylvia Walizer and Jessica Cannon, and one step-grandson; Andrew Miller.

Harry was a veteran of the US Navy for 22 years serving on mostly Destroyers for most of his Navy career, retiring as an E-7 Chief Petty Officer and serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was previously employed at the Huttonsville Correctional Facility as a security guard for 5 years and also Davis Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department for 17 ½ years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and his country, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Per Harry’s request his remains will be cremated. Interment of his cremains will be in the WV National Cemetery at Grafton at a later date.
