WILLIAMSPORT — Frank Girardi Jr., 49, was arrested by Old Lycoming Township police on Tuesday and charged with stealing money and a gun from a neighbor’s home in February of this year.

Township police allege Girardi used the money to buy illegal drugs and exchanged the gun for prescription pills and cocaine, this according to a report on PennLive.com.

Giardi faces multiple charges including burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass, criminal use of a communications device and illegally transferring firearms. He was placed in the Lycoming County Prison yesterday in lieu of $175,000 bail; a spokesman there said he was released on bail today.

According to PennLive.com, evidence against him was obtained by a recorded conversation with an informant.

Girardi had been a teacher in the Jersey Shore School District for 20 years, until his termination a year ago, according to the Harrisburg website. He had been at one time head football coach at Jersey Shore and had also assisted his father, Frank Girardi, longtime successful head coach at Lycoming College.
