MACKEYVILLE — therecord-online has learned that the mammoth Baker Hughes facility near Mackeyville is for sale, the asking price $9 million.

Baker Hughes had closed its three-year-old facility in the Clinton County Economic Partnership Business Park in Lamar Township in March of this year, blaming “challenging market conditions” in the natural gas industry.

Partnership CEO Mike Flanagan today confirmed word that the sprawling Baker Hughes complex is on the open market. The 38-acre site has been listed by CBRE, a worldwide real estate firm with an office in Pittsburgh. The facility covers over 95,000 square feet under roof in six different buildings, the main building combining an office area with a garage facility.

Baker Hughes opened the natural gas pressure pumping facility near the end of 2012. Employment reached as high as 200 people but starting in 2015 that level trended down until word of the shutdown came in mid-March. On the market for $9 million, the site had cost an estimated $37 million to develop.
