Tentative Accord Reported in Dominion Contract Bargaining

ugwe Local 69DELLSLOW, WV — A tentative contract accord is reported between Dominion Transmission Inc.  and its United Gas Workers Union Local 69.

Report of the tentative agreement came late last week, shortly before the union said it was to be locked out. A union leadership release out of West Virginia said the union’s negotiating committee agreed to present the tentative agreement to its Representative Counsel for a recommendation in line with union by-laws.

The release said “In order for this agreement to be ratified it must be voted on and passed by a majority vote of the membership.” Sources told The Record that union board members were to meet on Wednesday of this week in Clarksburg, WV to get additional details on the proposed terms of a new contract.

Some 50 to 60 union employees in the Tamarack/Renovo area have continued to work under terms of a contract that expired April l of this year. There had been an earlier round of talks July 15 and a union release at that time said its membership of 950 across six states voted down that offer by a 766 to 75 margin.
