Wildcat Boys Head to Districts

cm-basketballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — The Central Mountain boys basketball team will be a player in the District 6 Quad-A playoffs beginning later this month.

School officials made the decision to put the 7-14 Wildcats into the field because of the wide-open nature of the standings where teams have struggled to get above .500.

The most recent rankings showed Mifflin County on top at 11-10, followed by Altoona at 10-9, Central Mountain at 7-14, Hollidaysburg at 6-14 and State College at 2-20.

Central Mountain athletic director Steve Turchetta noted the Wildcats recently played tight games with both Mifflin County (57-52 Huskies) and Altoona (65-58 Mountain Lions).

Playoff pairings, dates and locations are expected to be announced later this week.

The Wildcats are coming off a Monday Senior Night 72-67 home court win over Bellefonte. Senior Tyler Everhart again led Central Mountain with 21 points, sophomore Alex Garbrick next with 18.

Six seniors were recognized prior to the Monday contest. In addition to Everhart, they are Travis Turchetta, Brett Peddigree, Kyler Klein, Luke Stevenson and Tanner Meeker.
