Keystone Drops Montour 6-4 to Advance to D12 Championship

key-base-logoMONTOURSVILLE – The Keystone 9-11 All-Stars continued their winning ways with a hard fought 6-4 victory over Montoursville.

Luke Simcox got the scoreboard in gear with a lead-off solo homer in the top of the first inning to set the tone. Chase Brush followed up with a base hit then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Matt Conklin scored Brush with a sacrifice hit to set the score to give Keystone a 2-0 lead.

Keystone added another run in the second inning as a result of a singles from Jack Hanna and Kaden Irvin with Hanna scoring on a sac fly by Chase Brush.

Keystone Held Montoursville careless for the first three inning and held a 3-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.

Keystone tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth on base hits from Irvin, Simcox and Ben Herrick.

Montoursville answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-2, Keystone.

In the top of the sixth inning, Keystone tacked another run, a result of double hit by Cru Stover and Herrick.

Montoursville battled back in the bottom of the sixth scoring two more runs, but reliever, Matt Conklin held held strong and 3 of the 6 batters he faced in the final inning.

Cru Stover had the start on the mound for Keystone pitching 3 2/3 innings striking out 7, walking one batter and giving up 3 hits.

Matt Conklin cam ein to close out the game striking out 6 while giving up 4 hits.

Multiple hits came from Ben Herrick with a double and a single and three singles for Kaden Irvin, with Luke Simcox, a homer and a single. Chase Brush and Jack Hanna had base hits while Cru Stover hit a double for Keystone.

Keystone will now advance to the District 12 championship to be played at Volunteer Stadium on Friday, July 15 at 6 p.m. and face the winner of the Montoursville vs Williamsport consolation final.
