Ramm Cardboard Boat Race Results

LOCKPORT—The weather was heated, the water was heated and the competition was heated as the annual Lynne Ramm Memorial Cardboard Boat Race was carried out today as part of Woodward Township’s annual Riverfest.

There were prizes galore for the entrants, all of whom made it safely to the finish line, most all still in their cardboard boats while one entry, Courtney Hamberger and Maddy Briggs, towed their boat to the end. Novice entrant Todd Williams shocked the large throng of race watchers when he dethroned defending champion the Duck, both part of the Wally Watt cardboard racing stable.

Prizes were awarded to:

Children ages 8-12 (3+ entrants): Cub Scout Pack 66

Youth 13-17: Garrett Hamberger

Young Adults 18-50: Todd Williams

Adult 51+: Wally Watt

Family: Cub Scout Pack 66

Children 8-12 (1-2 entrants): Courtney Hamberger, Maddy Briggs

Best Costume & Design: The Viking Ship, the Grimes Family

Best Boat: Cub Scout Pack 66

Titanic Award: Courtney Hamberger, Maddy Briggs

The three day Riverfest will end at 10 o’clock tonight with a fireworks display.
