Buck Baseball Numbers Looking Good

FARWELL – The 2016 Bucktail baseball team has a large number of players as in many recent years as coach Bill Probst is carrying 21 on the roster. With only nine returning letter winners from last year, that leaves a lot of new faces for the Bucks.

Letter-winners from last season are seniors Anthony Intallurra, Collin Spencer, Tom Miller, Derrick Long, Ryan Prebble, Keifer Mason, Josh Knauff, Josh Marr and junior Richard Probst.

There are pros and cons about having a large roster of players on the team. The most impressive pro about it is competition for positions. Who really wants to play that position? Remember that coach is looking at each player and wondering who is going to win us games in the batter box and on the field; because at the varsity level it is about winning and having your school represented in the district play-offs. The con about it is getting these younger players reps during a game. But these players must be ready at all times coming off the bench.  Whether it is playing just the field for defensive purposes or just batting in one inning.

These new players are seniors Brice Cannon, Kyle Ransdorf; juniors Mike Casper, Collin Mason, Mitchel Intallura; sophomores Logan long and James Lund; freshmen Tanner Riggle, Blake Cannon, Trevor Burrows, Ben Probert, John Francis,

There is one good thing for Coach Probst is that he should have a lot of options for shifting players around. That is until he is able to find that comfortable position for these new players. It will take a couple of games to juggle the line-up around until he finds the right chemistry from top to bottom.

There is one thing that is going for the Bucks baseball team and that is most of the seniors have played for at least two or more years. This core of senior players has proven to be leaders on the field. As they have shown it in football and basketball.

The Bucks are off to a 0-2 start. They are to host Sullivan County on Monday, travel to Benton Wednesday and to South Williamsport Friday.
