For the Record – Feb. 11, 2016

for-the-recordCome on guys, do your job …

The funding issue for Bucktail Medical Center or lack thereof has been the number one topic of conversation in the Renovo area this week following an open letter to state legislators by BMC administrator-chief executive officer Tim Reeves.

The state is $400,000 behind in funding payments to the medical center according to Reeves, and the current budget tug-of-war between Democratic Governor Tom Wolfe and the Republican controlled state Legislature is uncalled for and unappreciated by the people who voted them into office.

The governor and the legislators are elected by the people to serve the people. The governor and the legislators are paid by the people of Pennsylvania – including people here in Western Clinton County. And we expect them to do their job. We expect them to work for the good of the people who elected them. We expect them to approve a budget that provides funds to operate health care facilities for all Pennsylvanians, in rural as well as urban areas.

We need BMC …

There are no if, and’s or buts; the fact is we in Western Clinton County need Bucktail Medical Center.

We need it for health care first and foremost. It is the only such facility within 30 miles of any direction. It is accessible quickly in emergencies

We also need it for economic reasons.  Western Clinton County’s basic  economic survival is in some ways related to the survival of the medical center.  Business and industry make location choices based on services available. Schools, churches, retail facilities and medical care facilities are among the services companies look for when considering locations. And all those services at some time or other need or use medical facilities.

Rumor has it …

Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but we hear that Farwell resident Bud Hallberg,  is conducting a one-man mission to encourage area residents to send emails to state legislators telling them to “come on guys, do your job.”
