Wildcats Fall to Seals 58-41

cm-basketballSELINSGROVE – Central Mountain (10-6) traveled down river to the Main Branch to face Heartland Conference foe, Selinsgrove (9-7) tonight and came away with a 58-41 loss.

Although the Wildcats were never far behind in the early going, the Seals kept inching away and increasing their lead in a methodic fashion.

Selinsgrove had a 14-11 lead after the first quarter and starched that margin to 24-19 at the half. In similar fashion, Selinsgrove managed to maintain that momentum in the third quarter outscoring Central Mountain 15-10 for a 40-29 advantage. The fourth quarter was more of the same as Selinsgrove topped CM 18-12 for the final of 58-41.

“A lot of uncharacteristic play and we never really got going at either end of the floor,” shared coach Scott Baker about the Wildcat’s effort, “Will look to regroup for Monday as Tyrone is 11-5.” he added.

Senior insider, Cole Reeder missed his second hame with an ankle injury but is expected to return to action against Tyrone.

Leading the way for Central Mountain offensively was Kyle Everhart, 12; Alex Garbrick, 9; Brody Baker, 6; Justin Neff, 5; and Landon Breon scored 4 points. Tyler Zablocki scored 2 points while Cordell Muthler, Wyatt Bumbarger and Nick Carpenetti each scored one point to round out the scoring.

As noted earlier, Central Mountain will travel an hour down Rt 150 to face the Golden Eagles of Tyrone on Monday, Feb 1, 2016 for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
