Snowtime like time at Tripp’s  …

There’s no time like time spent with friends and morning gatherings are popular at Tripp’s in North Bend. Tuesday while the snow was layering their vehicle windshields, musicians Ron Jones and Jim Franklin and auctioneer Rich Hepner  enjoyed a coffee klatch  at Tripp’s. They said it was a reunion. I think I heard Franklin say it was a reunion of great minds.

Here’s hoping …

Me, I was in Tripp’s to purchase Lottery tickets.  Like millions of others, I’ve been purchasing a couple of tickets each week in recent weeks to take my chances at winning the largest payout in lottery history. I’m writing this Tuesday evening so I won’t know prior to going to press if I’m a winner. Oh well, there’s no harm in dreaming, is there?

It is snow time here …

We’ve had a mild start to winter so far, but this week the blustery winds, the cold and Tuesday’s snow are proof that it is winter and that the worst is still to come.  I guess we just have to make the best of it.

Celebrating anyone?

Denny Gallagher of Richmond, VA writes us asking if Renovo is planning events celebrating the 150th anniversary and the dates for these if known.

I remember earlier in 2015 discussions about a celebration this coming spring. Anyone in the know is welcome to let us know at The Record and your’s truly will forward the information to Denny.

Rumors continue …

The rumors continue about the former Weis store. The latest and most frequent rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but I’m still hearing that it will be a thrift store. In the meantime the roof is being redone, the parking lot has been redone and exterior painting has been done. I’m hearing interior renovations are in store as well.

A resolution worth noting …

Speaking of thrift stores, I had heard rumors  it was possible a Goodwill Store planned for Renovo.  That’s only a rumor folks, not a clue if it’s true. So I went on line to check a Goodwill site and found an interesting item regarding  New Year’s resolutions and Goodwill donations.

A Lorie Marrero, a spokesperson for Good Will in North Central PA suggests that if you’ve made a resolution to declutter your home or surroundings, donating unwanted items to Goodwill. It sounds like a good idea to me. It’s a way of helping yourself and others at the same time, and helping Good Will Industries to fund job training programs and services.
