SOUTH RENOVO – Newly appointed Mayor Frank Morton Sr. opened up South Renovo borough council’s reorganizational meeting Monday night. Members of the newly reduced borough council present were Tracy Embick, Lynn Gavlock, Jeanette Morton, and James Palmer. Absent was Edward Finnefrock.

Council membership now sits at five after Clinton County Court last year approved a council petition to reduce its size from seven to five.

Morton had recently been appointed mayor by Clinton County Court after the post had been left vacant by the death of James “Red” Franklin last summer.

Nominations were held for council officers and appointed positions. Lynn Gavlock was chosen to again serve as council president, Tracy Embick as vice president and newly elected councilperson Jeanette Morton was chosen for president pro tem.

Appointed positions were renewed for borough secretary Ernest Peterson, treasurer and local service tax collector Terry Buranosky, solicitor Donald Faulkner, water rent collector Diversified Technology, bank depository Santander Bank, ordinance enforcement Kevin Knox, building permits Rick Vilello and emergency management James Palmer.

Representatives of the Borough were also renewed for: Council of Governments James Palmer, Clinton County Economic Partnership and Community Trade Association Ernest Peterson and Vacancy Hearing Board Chris Haas.

Planning commission has four vacant positions with Robert Getz being the only officer. Zoning hearing board has one vacant position while Lonnie Burnette and Paula Finnefrock hold their positions.

Meeting times were set to continue as Work Session first Monday of the month, Regular meeting the second Monday of the month. All meetings start at 7:00 p.m.
