LHU Women End Skid against Georgian Court

lhu-hoopsLOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team pushed its way to a Saturday afternoon 76-50 non-conference win over Georgian Court, thanks to the hot-shooting of Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.) Univ.) and strong play of J.J. Hilliard(Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty).

McDaniel knocked down five 3-pointers on the way to 17 points and Hilliard added 15 points, four assists, three rebounds and a steal.

With the win, Lock Haven snapped a four-game losing skid. LHU is now 2-4 on the young season. Georgian Court fell to 0-6 on the year.

McDaniel was 5 of 6 shooting from downtown for the game. Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) also had a big outing and finished with eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

From the opening tip, it was all Lock Haven. Leading 5-2, the Bald Eagles closed the opening quarter on a nine-point run and led 14-2 after one period.

Lock Haven led 33-12 at halftime thanks to McDaniel, who nailed four 3-pointers. She was 4 of 5 from behind the arc in the first half.

Ten different players scored for Lock Haven and the Bald Eagles shot 51 percent from the field over 40 minutes. LHU shot a sizzling 67 percent from 3-point range.

Lock Haven is set to host Mansfield University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action on Tuesday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m.
