LHU Falls to Kutztown 34-20

lhu-footballLOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University football team (2-7, 2-4 PSAC East) dropped a hard-fought Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East battle to visiting Kutztown University (5-4, 4-2 PSAC East), 34-20 today at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Kutztown led 13-6 at halftime and it was a one-possession game with the Golden Bears leading 20-13 heading into the fourth, but KU scored 14 fourth-quarter points to pull away in the final period.

Leading the way for Lock Haven were quarterback Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and running back Malyk Harris (Harrisburg, Pa./Albright College), who both had career days.

Walton returned after missing last week’s action and picked up right where he left off. He was 22 of 38 passing for 214 yards and a touchdown. His 11-yard passing TD to Dan Krupko (Homeworth, Ohio/Urbana University) marked his 18th passing-TD this season, which ties an all-time LHU single season record.

Walton also rushed for a score.

Harris, who made his first career start at running back last week recorded his second straight 200-yard rushing game. Today, he carried the ball 24 times for 224 yards, which included a 75-yard run and a two-yard touchdown jolt. The 224 yards are the sixth-most ever for a single game.

Shawn Seif (Harrisburg, Pa./Kutztown University) had a game-high 10 catches for 108 yards. Caleb Kephart (Portage, Pa./Portage) had five catches for 42 yards and Krupko finished with five grabs for 37 yards and his one TD.

Tony Ballon (Jersey City, N.J./Harrisburg) finished with a team-high 11 tackles.

Mike Williams (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), Aaron Hepburn (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock), Rahjeir Miles-Eubanks (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) and Isaiah Flamer (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) all recorded 10 tackles apiece.

Nest Saturday (November 7), the Bald Eagles will take the short trip East on Interstate 80 to take on Bloomsburg University at 2 p.m. for Week 10 PSAC East action.
