Bucks Prep for BVM

Homecoming Parade Postponed

bucks-footballFARWELL — The Bucktail Bucks (2-5) are hoping to end their 2015 season strong with two home games remaining.  This Friday, Bucktail will be hosting Nativity BVM (2-6) and finish Friday, Nov. 6 with round two with Carson Long.

The Bucks did need a good week of rest to heal their wounds. Coach Bruce Ransom did give the boys a couple of days off before getting back into practice last Wednesday.

As they prepare for the Green Wave of Nativity, Nativity will be coming in with a two game winning streak as they won last week over National Collegiate Prep (DC) 2-0. The two common opponents that Bucktail and BVM play are Carson Long and Columbia-Montour. BVM lost to CMVT 32-24 and won over Carson Long 62-6. Bucktail lost to CVMT 20-6 and won over Carson Long 56-0. Last year Bucktail lost 34-0 to BVM, the game was played at Nativity.

Looking at both teams, it should be a good game and a coin toss to see who wins on Friday night. With it being week nine into the high school season, I hope that the Bucks secondary understands that they need to stay on their pass coverage. If not, it could be another long night on the field. The Bucks defensive line needs to have a big game on this night or BVM will just run all over the field.

But the offense has to get the running game going to be successful. Blake Cannon and Anthony Intallura need to get positive yards in order for quarterback Mike Casper to find his passing game as well. If Casper can find his receivers Josh Knauff, Mitch Intallura, Keifer Mason and Logan Long just ten or fifteen yards down field, these players can make something happen after the catch. Casper needs to look at all of them.

Homecoming festivities were to be held beginning on Thursday of this week with a parade but school officials announced those events have been postponed one week due to the circumstances surrounding a bank robbery earlier in the day in Renovo.
