Good Luck Mayor Pagnotto …

Here’s to well wishes for Mayor Don Pagnotto who is about to finish his fourth term and hang up the mayor hat he’s been wearing or some 16 ye wars. He chose not to run for re-election this time but I’m betting he’s going to still be doing things for his beloved home town.

I’ve known Mayor Pagnotto for many years and knew of him before ever moving to North Bend. He was Renovo historical information and an antique collector. At one time you were likely to see him at every antique or estate auction in the area. He was a “regular” in our antique shop and used to tell us the history of many of the items we had in the shop.

Our family auto glass business used to install windshield’s in vehicles for one of the mayor’s family business associates. It was sort of a “small world” revelation when we told a client we spent our weekends in camp in Renovo. He told us his wife and in-laws were from Renovo.

The gas boom …

This week’s Shale Play newspaper insert shows Mary Wolf, spokeswoman for Anadarko Petroleum Corp. on the cover as she addressed the Pennsylvania Economy League during a recent natural gas forum. It’s been a while since Ms. Wolf was in Renovo. It seems like eons ago that she was a regular participant in the Community Trade Association meetings. It’s only been a year or so in reality. She was a regular attendee at the CTA meetings when natural gas exploration was in full force in the Renovo area. I believe Anadarko was the first to drill wells in the area. While we don’t hear that much about the short lived gas boom here anymore, we hear the reason for the quiet is the low gas prices. The low cost however, is beneficial to the individual home owner.

She’ll be at the meeting …

Marlene Ruhl who asked Renovo Borough Council not to raise taxes during their last council session. She said she will be at council’s meeting on Thursday, Dec. 19 also. She and her husband accompanied Renovo Councilwoman Colleen Testa Tuesday morning to a monthly HUD board meeting in Lock Haven. She said Testa asked board members why Renovo only gets $32.50 for each unit of low income housing when the borough has to pay for police and ambulance and other services provided for borough residents.

Chapman Ladies holiday party …

Santa Claus and Bud & The Dynamics were on hand for the Chapman Fire Company Ladies Christmas party Wednesday night, Dec. 18.

It’s almost Christmas already …

It never fails. Christmas comes much faster than we expect, and here it is less than a week away. I’m not sure if I’m ready for it, but I’m wishing each of you a wonderful, Merry Christmas.

A White Christmas …

I wonder if the cold is going to continue long enough to insure us a white Christmas. I know a lot of kiddies are hoping it is so for Santa’s arrival by sleigh.
