Michael C. Tolbert – Obituary

wpid14955-michael-tolbert-150731.jpgMichael C. Tolbert, 66, of Lock Haven went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2015 at his home.

Michael was born on January 15, 1949 in Lock Haven, the son of the late Shirley Tolbert Summerson and George Summerson. On December 31, 1986 Michael married Tammy L. Klobe-Long Tolbert who preceded him in death on September 6, 2010 after 29 years of marriage.

Michael attended Lock Haven High School. He then entered the United States Marie Corp, serving during the Vietnam War and receiving various medals including the Purple Heart.

Michael worked for various factories over his lifetime including Hammermill, Champion, Drive Plus, Auto Line and Shop Vac before retiring in November 2013.

Michael enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. Michael could be seen at many sporting events over the years supporting his sons, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Michael also enjoyed fishing and watching older TV programs and movies.

Michel is survived by a mother-in-law, Judith Beach of Mill Hall; three sons: Jason (April) Long of Lock Haven, Steven (Venessa) Long of Williamsport, and Shon Tolbert of Lock Haven; four grandchildren: Hayden, Kenetcha and Brody Long of Lock Haven, Isabella Long of Williamsport, an aunt, Kathryn Tolbert of Lock Haven; a sister, Sandy Jones of Virginia; a step-brother, Edward Summerson of Woolrich; two half-brothers, George and Ralph Summerson of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Klobe-Long Tolbert; his mother and step-father, Shirley Tolbert Summerson and George Summerson; a sister, Barbara Elliott; and a grandson, Dominic Steven Long.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Mill Hall United Methodist Church, Danis St., Mill Hall, on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 5 p.m. with Pastor Joan Gordon officiating. Michael will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery with Military Honors.
