Keystone Blasts Cressona 10-0 to Open Section 3 Action

key-base-logoWELLSBORO – The Keystone 10-11 All-Stars opened the Section 3 tournament in style by besting Cressona 10-0.

Keystone and Cressona were scoreless after one full inning, then Keystone took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, then followed up with another run in the third to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the fourth inning, the floodgates opened with Keystone plating seven more runs to invoke the mercy rule and an early end to the contest.

Leading the way offensively, Cy Probst had a triple, and two singles. Kaden Falls, Nash Welch, Blade Myers and Kelvin Probst all contributed a pair of base hits while Aaron Miller and Brady Bendik each had a single in the game.

From the mound, Kaden Falls and Aaron Miller split the duty only throwing a combined 47 pitches in the game. The duo earned 3 strikeouts, giving up 6 hits and only 3 walks on the night. Even though Cressona accumulated some hits, the Keystone defense did not allow a single score.

Next up for Keystone will be the winner of the South Columbia vs. Potter-McKean in the winner’s bracket final slated for 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2015.
