Wet Conditions Did Not Dampen Spirits

WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – The Ninth Annual Great Island Adventure Triathlon had wet conditions but great competition from a heart group of contestants. Though it was rainy, the river level and road conditions held up well enough to see the event to a successful completion.

Chaz Ross of Clifford, Pa. continued his streak of nine consecutive Ironman Championships completing the 5k paddle, 25k bike route and 5k run in only 1:31:29.18.

Edna Spang was the first place female finisher overall, winning the Iron Woman award completing the course in 1:43:54.50.

In the inaugural Great Island Adventure Swim Triathlon, Luke Engelo traversed the 750m swim, 25k bike route and 5k run in 1:27:28.00.

Meredith Leader was the first overall finisher in the GIAST recording a time of 1:46:18.89.
