Beech Creek Now 5-0 on the Season

leg-ba-logo2BEECH CREEK – The Beech Creek Junior American Legion baseball team just did stay undefeated Tuesday evening. The Little Crickets went back-and-forth with Mifflinburg before pulling out a 9-8 walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.

Beech Creek trailed 8-7 heading into the bottom of the sixth and tied the game on a two-out double from Ethan Watkins, scoring courtesy runner Jake Haines who was running for catcher Asher Corl who had doubled.

The win came in the bottom of the seventh when Mahlik Houtz led off with a walk. Austin Rager sacrificed-bunted him to second; Houtz moved to third on a passed ball and with Aaron Swartz up and the count 3-0, the Mifflinburg pitcher balked in Houtz for the “balk-off” win.

Austyn Carson picked up the win in relief. Top Junior Cricket hitters were: Carson 2-4 with a double, Corl 1-2 with a double, Ethan Watkins 2-3 with a double and Troy Gardner 2-4.

Now 5-0, Beech Creek travels to Mifflin County Thursday and participates in a Lock Haven University wooden bat tournament Saturday and Sunday.
