CM Track: Many Participants, Many Letter-Winners

cm-track-fieldMILL HALL—It’s a new coaching combo running the Central Mountain track program this season, Terrance Green directing the boys’ squad and Katie Madden the girls’ team. They replace longtime coach Bob Dwyer.

And they’ll have plenty to work with: 96 squad members between grades 9 and 12. These include 54 boys and 42 girls, including a very large senior class. They include 15 letter-winners each for the two groups.

There is one state performer returning from a year ago in senior Loc Long in the discus.

Green said point scorers are likely to include Graham Smith in the 100; Laurel Moyer in middle distances, Sandra Lageman in the triple jump; Troyanna Egan in the 100 and middle distances; Taylor Knarr in the javelin; Merit Patterson in the 400; Josh King in the 800 and Bryce Mansfield in the hurdle events.

Green said goals include doing well in the program’s first-year participation in the Heartland Conference and qualifying as many participants as possible for the District 6 competition in Altoona in May.

He said depth will be a positive but the team needs improvement in the hurdles. The Wildcats will open the 2015 next Tuesday at Altoona.
