Carnicom New Dean for New LHU College

LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven University this week announced Dr. Scott Carnicom as founding dean of the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences.

Dr. Carnicom is a professor of psychology and serves as an assistant to the provost at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN.  He began as the associate dean of the honors college at Middle Tennessee and has remained active in the National Collegiate Honors Council, serving on several committees and editorial boards.

An LHU release said Dr. Carnicom’s recent scholarship has focused on honors pedagogy and liberal arts education.

Since 2008, he has completed three fellowships in higher education leadership at Harvard, Vanderbilt, and a year-in-residence at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio (American Council on Education emerging leaders program).  Before joining MTSU, Dr. Carnicom was an associate professor of psychology and founding director of the honors program at Marymount University in Arlington, VA.

Carnicom earned his Ph.D. in biopsychology at Stony Brook University where his work focused on the neural basis of motor control.  He earned his BA in psychology (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Ohio University in Athens, OH.  Dr. Carnicom is a native of Ashland, OH, and will be joined in the Lock Haven community by his wife of 17 years, Marla and six-year-old son Harry.
