LOCK HAVEN – A Lock Haven man has been charged with attempted homicide and related offenses in connection with a shotgun shooting at his W. Main St. residence last Friday night.

Charles “Chuck” Shaffer Jr., 51, was arraigned on Thursday before district magistrate Joseph Sanders and remanded to the Clinton County Correctional Facility where he had been in custody on a parole detainer following last week’s shooting.

The alleged victim, Casey Farley, 51, of 527 W. Main St. has seen his condition upgraded to serious at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville; Farley had been Life-flighted there Friday night following the shooting and was initially listed in critical condition.

According to the police arrest affidavit, Shaffer and Farley had been arguing in the hours before the shooting, including an accusation from Shaffer that Farley had been stealing his “pills.” From police interviews contained in the affidavit, Shaffer and Farley told similar stories about their arguing and the shooting, reportedly with a shotgun Shaffer had placed under some pillows on a nearby couch in a second floor room of their W. Main St. home.
