Words of Grace – Nov. 20, 2014

WordsOfGraceThe glorious temple that was built in the city of Jerusalem under the supervision of King Solomon took seven years to complete. It became known as Solomon’s Temple but it was in actuality the House of the Lord.

At the dedication service the Lord’s presence was there as “the glory of the Lord filled the house.” Then the Lord reminded King Solomon that he would see and hear his people when they come to his house.

“Now my eyes shall be open, and my ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.”

To those who do not believe in a God who hears and sees everything, consider these questions: “He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?” (Psalm 94:9).

When the Lord said that, when we pray, his eyes would be open, and his ears attent, what does that mean? It means that prayer gets God’s attention. “Fervent prayer…availeth much” (James 5:16). Someone has written in a devotional:

“It’s not the arithmetic of our prayers, how many they are; not the rhetoric of our prayers, how eloquent they may be; nor the geometry of our prayers, how long they may be; nor the music of our prayers, how sweet our voice may be; nor the logic of our prayers, how argumentative they may be; nor the method of our prayers, how orderly they may be; or even the theology of our prayers, how good the doctrine is, that God responds to. “

He responds to “the prayer that is made in this place.”
