Renovo Looking at No Tax Hike in 2015

RENOVO – Barring any unanticipated changes, Renovo residents should see the same real estate millage in 2015 as this year.

Council last week gave a first reading approval to a 2015 budget, one that will keep real estate taxes at 10.01 mills. Final adoption is likely at the next council meeting set for Dec. 10.

A borough spokesman said the goal is to keep taxes the same in the new year. She said there is consideration being given to increasing the police budget as council looks at the possibility of hiring additional part-time officers. If that happens, she said, the budget would have to be altered to cover that additional expense.

Renovo council a year ago, on a 5-2 vote, agreed to hike the real estate levy 1.5 mills to its current figure of 10.01.

Meanwhile council is back at full strength; recent appointees Tom Tarantella Jr. and Mark Campbell were administered the oath of office by District Court Judge Frank Mills.
