Three Wildcats Sign for College Baseball

cm-baseballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Three standout baseball players for the Central Mountain Wildcats have made their decisions about continuing their careers beyond their senior high school seasons this spring.

Infielder Dylan Kerstetter, pitcher Caleb Seyler and pitcher/infielder Zach Skrtich inked their papers during the NCAA baseball signing period earlier this week.

Kerstetter will play at the University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown and plans to take secondary education, Seyler at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he plans to major in accounting and Skrtich at George Mason University of Fairfax, Virginia, where he will major in rehabilitation sciences.

Wildcat baseball coach Mike Kramer, assistants Tyler Barth and James Gallagher and the players’ parents were present for the signing at Central Mountain High School on Monday.

Gallagher provided The Record with junior season and career highlights for all three:

Seyler: Batting average last year was .289 with three doubles and one triple. On the mound he was the ace of the Wildcats with a team low 1.75 ERA. His record was 3-0, with 7 appearances, started six games, and had two complete games; career batting average of .311 with four doubles and one triple. Seyler won the Wildcats’ first playoff game last year at Mifflin County going 7 innings, with 7 strikeouts and walked no one. He also started the District 6 final game vs. State College and went 6 innings giving up 5 runs (2 earned) while striking out two and walking one. Career Pitching: 2.69 ERA, with a 5-1 record and 45 strikeouts. He has started 8 games with 3 complete games. Seyler pitched in a total of 54.2 innings for his career. He is a two-year starter and varsity letterman. Seyler has been a first baseman and pitcher. He has played in 34 games.

Skrtich: Had a no hitter vs. Williamsport last season. On the mound he was 1-2 with a 1.78 ERA. He had five appearances, started three games, one complete game, one shutout, and had one save. He also added 32 strikeouts on the mound which led the team. Batting: Zach had a .362 batting average, 15 runs, 17 hits, 14 RBI’S, 2 doubles, 1 triple, a team high 13 walks, on base percentage of .492 and 4 stolen bases. He is a career .324 hitter, 25 runs, 33 hits, 29 RBIS, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 22, walks, on base percentage of .459, and five stolen bases. Zach is a two- year starter and has played first base, shortstop, third base and pitcher. Zach’s only pitching stats are from last season. He has played in 42 games.  

Kerstetter: Last year’s batting average .339, 15 runs, 21 hits, 12 RBI’s, 4 doubles, 5 walks, 3 stolen bases and a .397 on base percentage. For his career he has played in 42 games, .359 batting average, 37 runs, 42 hits, 23 RBI’S, 15 doubles, 10 Stolen Bases, .468 on base percentage, 15 walks, and 8 hit by pitches. Dylan has two career 20 hit seasons for the Wildcats. He is a two year letterman and has played second base and DH for the Wildcats. Kerstetter was a pitch hitter as a freshman in a District 6 playoff game in Mill Hall vs. State College. Dylan delivered a two-out, two run-scoring RBI double as the Wildcats went on to take down State College.
