NORTH BEND – The annual Chapman Township Halloween Party held Sunday evening was a huge success with approximately one hundred forty costumed children vying for prizes and enjoying more treats than tricks. An estimated 180 adults accompanied the children.

The youngsters and the adults accompanying them, as in years past, enjoyed a variety of cookies, punch and a Halloween specialty, eatable homemade cat litter. And, as a special treat, after the parade, before the judges, everyone, young and old, was able to go through a haunted house built and staffed by Bucktail Area High School students. BHS shop teacher Bill Probst worked the students. After the haunted house there were the very popular tractor pulled hayrides compliments of Roland Davenport.

The judges, Chapman Township supervisors George Machak, Tim Horner and Greg Werts, said the hardest part of the job was choosing three winners in each category. All costumed youngsters were prize worthy, they said.

Prizes were awarded in age categories. In the fifth to sixth grade category Raylene Mos won the award for the prettiest, Lexie Laback, the prettiest and Evan Schoonover, the ugliest costume.

In grades three and four the winners were: Makenzie Wagner, prettiest; Jeremy Zuback, most original and Kaylee Croak wore the ugliest costume.

Three and four year old winners were Rebecca Connley, prettiest; Keira Scrimshaw, most original and Eli Arndt, the ugliest costume.

In the infant to two year old category the winners were prettiest, Tesaya Wadsworth; most original Brianna Smith and the ugliest costume was Malakhi Rossman.
