RENOVO — Wednesday was a day for celebration along the 500 block of Erie Avenue in Renovo.

Members of the Renovo Heritage Park board of directors gathered at their newly restored “Heritage Headquarters” to celebrate the cutting of the ribbon at their revitalized property, part of the group’s ongoing effort to preserve the best of Renovo’s past for future generations.

Lois Romanak wielded the scissors for the ribbon-cutting; she has been part of the restoration effort since its inception some years aback.

In addition to the painstaking, hands-on restoration work ongoing inside the three-story brick building, the RHP board is proceeding with plans for a number of improvements, including a handicapped-accessible entrance at the building’s rear. Clinton County is providing $34,500 in Community Development Block Grant funds towards that effort. The Clinton County Community Foundation and the Renovo Sons of Italy have also provided assistance.

Park board president Rich Wykoff spent much of Wednesday’s open house proudly answering visitors’ questions and pointing out the multitude of rich memorabilia from Renovo’s past.
