Computer Glitch Blamed for Shutdown
Clinton Medical Associates Reopening Expected Next Week
LAMAR TOWNSHIP — The head of Clinton Medical Associates is blaming a computer failure for the unannounced Thursday closing of the 20-year-old primary care facility. Dr. Michael Greenberg today circulated a release to the media, promising a reopening soon; its contents:
“Recent rumors and a hasty message recorded on Clinton Medical Associates’ phone system indicate that CMA will be closed “until further notice”. CMA had a sudden, unexpected failure of computer and linked communication systems Wednesday evening. The failure precluded notification of patients for which I sincerely and deeply regret. A new system will be installed early next week that will permit the clinicians and staff to continue to offer the personal, patient-oriented, service excellence, medical care that CMA has provided since 1994. I personally apologize for the inconvenience to CMA’s patients and friends.
Michael Greenberg, MD”
”therecord-online” reported yesterday that patients were at the site during the day Thursday, unable to gain access, the building’s doors locked and apparently no one inside.
One would-be patient told The Record he had arrived at 1:10 p.m. for a 1:20 p.m. appointment and could not gain access and calls to the firm’s phone number went unreturned.
Calls to the Clinton Medical Associates phone number on Thursday had been met with a pre-recorded message which said CMA “is now closed and will remain closed until further notice.”
