LOCK HAVEN – With reports circulating of a prospective new owner for the old Piper Aircraft manufacturing plant, Lock Haven City Council Monday night approved a rezoning of the plot from industrial park/airport to industrial. Council approval follows favorable recommendations from both the city and county planning commissions. The building has been vacant since spring when the remaining inventory from the bankrupt Rafko company was removed. Current property owner is Anthony Frasca of Brooklyn, NY. An existing Clinton County industry is reported to have interest in acquiring the building which had been a silk mill until acquired by Piper Aircraft Corporation in 1937. Piper shut down local operations in 1984. Record photo – John Lipez
