Lock Haven’s ladder truck is temporarily out of service and the city fire department will rely on a similar piece of equipment from the Avis Fire Company until the problem is solved. The shutdown was announced at Monday’s city council meeting and city manager Rich Marcinkevage said there is no timeline on when the problem will be resolved; meanwhile he said the city is looking at a temporary solution, the purchase of a used ladder truck. The city was recently notified its $800,000 truck, some eight years old, may have a defective pulley system, causing the ladder mechanism to freeze up. The manufacturer, a Georgia company, said through a statement it is working to correct the problem in trucks it has manufactured. Record photo – John Lipez
